Many thanks to everyone who participated in the 2021 Realities Cup Invitational Golf Tournament! This annual event is an exceptional golf and dining experience unique to Northern Colorado, held at Ptarmigan Country Club. This year’s tournament was presented with the support of Blue Federal Credit Union.

We are grateful to everyone who chose to share their time and to be a part of this fun and exciting networking and fundraising event! The weather was great, the company fabulous, the day was full of fun, and the support of everyone involved made it possible to reach further in service for local children in need. Through the support of all the participants, generous sponsors, auction donors, valued volunteers, and staff, we were able to raise critical funds for children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or are at-risk.
What an Exciting Day!
Golfers, sponsors, and participants were greeted with special edition Realities Cup golf shirts, and the opportunity to purchase a Mulligan package full of benefits to be used throughout a full day of golf. Raffle prizes were on display to inspire, and our team of professional volunteers made sure that all of our guests felt welcomed and appreciated.
There was plenty to do and see before the 1:00 pm Shotgun Start:
- Our Golden Tee winner took a chance at the $1,000,000 Hole-In-One Shot, sponsored by Blue Federal Credit Union at Hole #4.
- There were opportunities to participate in the Chipping & Putting Contests at the Putting Green sponsored by Noco Style Magazine.
- Everyone was encouraged to take part in the Inaugural Skydiving Ball Drop contest, where a lucky winner could walk away with $500 if their chosen ball was closest to the Realities Target in the exciting Skydiving Ball Drop display after the conclusion of tournament play. Participants could purchase one ball for $25 or 5 balls for $100. (Keep reading to see our first ever Skydiving Ball Drop Winner!)
- The incomparable staff at Ptarmigan served a delicious Fajita lunch, and complimentary beer provided by Eagle Rock Distributing Company was served. Our lunchtime musical guest, Vi Wickam, provided entertaining background music for all of our guests.
Our 22 teams of golfers took to the course at 1:00 pm. The Shotgun Start had players starting at all 18 holes. At each hole, participants were greeted by hole sponsor representatives or Realities Greeters, staffed by our friends at Hooters, Colorado. Most of the holes had some sort of activity or fun challenge for the teams to participate in, including a Longest Marshmallow Driving Contest, Dent the Hood Challenge (sponsored by our Banquet Sponsor, Crash Champions), and a Hole of Fortune activity.

At the end of play, golfers and sponsors were welcomed back at the Ptarmigan Clubhouse with delicious hors d’oeuvres and a generous cocktail hour, with music entertainment provided by KD Unplugged.

The premier Silent Auction was on display in the Ptarmigan bar area, and guests were invited to bid on exclusive experiences and items like – an all inclusive trip to Mexico, golfing sports memorabilia, beautiful jewelry, and many other items donated by Realities For Children Business Members and Sponsors.
At 6:40 pm, all Realities Cup guests were instructed to look towards the sky as our amazing team of skydivers from Those Guyz in the Sky descended, carrying the 200 Ball Drop balls. It was exciting to see which ball dropped closest to the Realities target that had been set out in the driving range field. Ball #31 was the closest, and Sheila Bowman took home $500 in cash for picking the winning ball!

Thanks to all of our golfers, donors, and sponsors, Realities for Children was able to raise nearly $50,000 in funding for children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or are at-risk in Northern Colorado!
If you didn’t get a chance to participate in this year’s Realities Cup Invitational Golf Tournament, you can still donate to the RFC Emergency Funds and make a difference in the life of a child!
