We would not be able to serve as many children as we do without the support and dedication of the hundreds of generous volunteers we have. In 2019 Realities For Children had 1,053 volunteer positions filled for a total of 3,590 hours of service! If you are interested in volunteering, please read about our areas of need, and either sign up through the event-specific links below or complete the form at the bottom of this page for on-going, year-round opportunities. You will then receive emails about volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Thank you!
- We will need help at our Annual Gala on Saturday, April 4th! A volunteer sign-up will be here soon.
Ongoing year-round Volunteer Opportunities
Delivery Volunteer: We would love to have you as a Delivery Volunteer with KindConnect, our newest program that meets the needs for household items for the families we serve. To learn more and sign up, visit RFCKindConnect.org.
Administrative/Office duties: We always appreciate help for our small but mighty staff! Examples are mailings, database entry, research. These could be scheduled at your convenience between 9 am and 5 pm Mondays through Thursdays.
Event support: We host 5 Premier events every year, in April, May, July, September, and December. Check them out here. If events are your thing, select "Event support" and our Events Director will contact you around those times.
Youth Activities: Every month we host a free activity for the kids we serve. The venue is always somewhere fun, and we provide food and a few gifts to take home. The events are about 2 hours long, typically on evenings or weekends when the kids are not in school. We use volunteers as we typically have 100-200 attendees and primarily need help with set up, check-in, to serve food, and tear-down. For these Youth Activities, we like to have long-term, consistent/repeat volunteers, even if they can’t help *every* month. Also, for the safety of all, these volunteers will need to complete a Realities For Children background check.
Item sorting and organizing: If you enjoy sorting and organizing, then you will love working in our Distribution Building. We have such generous donors and always need help staying tidy. This can be done at your convenience between 9 am and 5 pm Mondays through Thursdays.
One-time Activities are a couple of hours long and include duties like cleaning, vacuuming, and yard work. These typically only take a couple of hours at most for one person.
