FOUR WAYS REALITIES FOR CHILDREN
SERVES LARIMER COUNTY YOUTH:
EMERGENCY FUND
Realities For Children provides emergency funding to abused, neglected and at-risk youth in Larimer County. Funding is available on a case-by-case basis for children’s needs when there are no other resources available, creating a safety net in Larimer County so that our less fortunate children are provided for. These funds are granted directly to the service providers and act as the safety net for children who would otherwise go without necessary services. Realities For Children has also become a strong conduit for community donations and helps to direct and distribute needed items, donations and volunteer hours to benefit the youth served by our affiliate agencies. Thanks to the underwriting support of our Business Members and sponsors, 100% of every donation received to the emergency fund provides emergency resource grants to our affiliate agencies that work with abused, neglected and at-risk youth. If you would like to donate to the Emergency Fund, or to learn more about other non-profit funds we manage, please visit us on the Donate Now page.
Youth Agency Collaboration & Support
Before Realities For Children was founded there were other non profits that served the children in Larimer County. Although each of them offered similar services, there was not a collaborative effort to work together and in fact, most agencies were in competition with one another for donor dollars and support. One of the key reasons for founding Realities For Children was to provide all of the agencies a way to work together so that no child would be under or over served. In doing so, we also created a non-competitive resource for these agencies through our Emergency Fund. In recent years this organizational structure has become our Affiliate Youth Agency program. For a full listing of the local youth agencies that Realities For Children supports, please visit them on the Agencies Served page.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS
In addition to directly funding the needs of our local youth, Realities For Children presents, sponsors and participates in over 130 events every year. These fundraisers generate hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the valuable youth agencies that serve abused and neglected children in our community. Realities For Children further supplements these valuable fundraisers through volunteer time, auction items and additional marketing assistance to generate interest and attendance from community members. These events increase community awareness about the problems of child abuse and the valuable youth agencies that serve these children in our community. For people to get involved they need to first understand to what extent our community experiences child abuse and neglect. That is what these events are all about. For a full listing of upcoming event please visit us on the Events page.
SPECIAL YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES
Realities For Children is committed to providing monthly youth activities for the children we are dedicated to serving. The importance of a child simply being able to enjoy being a child is the goal here. Although these youth activities are designed to provide creative outlets, fun, exercise and entertainment opportunities that these children may not have otherwise experienced, they also offer cathartic healing. In addition to allowing youth who have experienced such hardship to laugh and play during difficult times it often teaches them to trust, communicate and work together as well. Such special opportunities include:
- Bowling
- Theatre and Shows
- Drumming Circles
- Ice Skating
- Back To School Bingo
- Roller Skating
- Pumpkin Patch and Fall Activities
- Christmas & Holiday Parties
- Bikes for Tykes
- Ropes Courses
- Athletic Events
- Movie Nights
- Summer Picnics
- Ice Cream Social
- Pump It Up Parties
